JF Health Update (revised 08/16/17)

  • Prevent mosquito bites and tick bites. The Zika virus from mosquitoes and tick borne illnesses are serious and vaccines are not available for prevention. Use insect repellent and eliminate all standing water around your home. Use Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellents. When used as directed, EPA-registered insect repellents are proven safe and effective, even for pregnant and breastfeeding women (CDC, 2017).
  • 10th grade screening for vision, hearing, and scoliosis will be done by BCPS nurses at JFHS on Tuesday September 19th. Parents will be contacted if there are any concerns. If you do not wish for your child/children to be screened, please contact the school nurse. Please make sure that your child/children wear their prescription glasses if needed and wear flat soled shoes on screening day.

All children should be fever free for 24 hours (without the use of fever reducing medications) before returning to school.

Please Remember:

  • All students need an Emergency Card on file in order to participate in field trips.
  • Please have the appropriate medical forms on file in the clinic if your child/children have medical conditions.
  • All medication forms expire each school year, including the acetaminophen and antihistamine forms.
  • Please register your child/children in CareDox. This is our electronic charting system that notifies you of treatment provided to your child/children. CareDox is HIPAA & FERPA compliant. If you would like to register, email CareDox at

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the clinic and talk with a nurse anytime during the school day.

Stay healthy and happy and remember to wash your hands!
