Summer & School Year Opportunities

Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) will offer a FREE Medical Academy
program this summer
.
We are excited to have our medical school students run the one-day workshop for rising seniors. 
Students must apply and return applications by May 15, 2024.  Applications Links to an external site. are now open.  

The program will be on Monday, June 3, from 10 am to 3 pm, with lunch included. Students will 
have hands-on exercises in suturing, brain/eye anatomy, manipulation, and its practical use in
osteopathic medicine.

The program will include lunch and a panel for parents to learn the resources available if their children
are interested in pursuing medicine. It is a unique experience for our school and surrounding high schools
in Southern Virginia.

The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) is recruiting high school sophomores and juniors, male or females,
to attend a 
Youth Leadership Conference to be held in Jamestown Va. There will be two separate conferences
held on April 25-28 and May 2-5, 2024. The MOWW will cover the cost of attending this four day, three night

One of Southside Electric Cooperative's most popular community programs is the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour
to our nation's capital. Each year, SEC takes several current high school juniors to D.C. for a week of sightseeing,
meeting with members of the area's congressional delegation, learning more about cooperatives, making new
friends from across America and much more.
It's all FREE for the students as SEC pays all expenses.
The 2024 trip is June 17-21. The application deadline is Jan. 31.

Free Flight Lessons~
The Aim High Flight Academy is a Free, 3 week program designed to inspire
young adults to explore aviation. Students receive one-on-one training from
Air Force and Certified Flight Instructors in a classroom and in the sky.  Earn
up to 15 flight hours, meet others from around the country, learn important skills
needed to become an aviator, strengthen you leadership skills
