Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  This will be my 1st year teaching at Jefferson Forest, and I am excited for this new opportunity.  Many of you may already be familiar with me, as I am entering my 10th season here as a member of the varsity football team coaching staff.  I look forward to working with you all this year.

Students will need a 3-ring binder and loose leaf paper for this course.


Course Description:

The instructional program on the secondary level includes mastery of specific goals, the improvement of educational achievement in the regular education environment, and the instruction of skills required for the promotion of personal management. Curriculum includes instruction in study skills, including test taking and organizational skills, self-management and determination, and IEP Goal based instruction related to academic achievement. This course provides a foundation for further education for students with disabilities. The special education teacher will maintain communication with regular education services and offer assistance to regular education teachers as requested.


Grading:

Grading will follow the policies of Bedford County Public Schools. The instructor reserves the right to apply individualized grading procedures to meet the particular needs of students with disabilities.

A = 90-100

B = 80-89

C = 70-79

D = 60-69

F = 59 and below


Students will earn an overall weekly grade. The weekly grade will consist of the instructor’s observations of the student’s participation, cooperation, evidence of completing assignments/studying, organization, and maintaining a daily agenda.
