Dance Team

Team History

The Jefferson Forest High School Soccer Dance Team was formed in 2000 at the request of then Boys Soccer Coach Jedd Zaring to support the JF varsity soccer team.  Over the years the program has grown and now supports the varsity football, girls and boys varsity basketball teams, as well as performing at various events during the school year.  We are now known simply as the Jefferson Forest High School Dance Team.

Even though dance is not a recognized VHSL (Virginia High School League) sport, our members are governed by its rules regarding eligibility, tryout procedures, game conduct, dress, and sportsmanship.  We also adhere to the Bedford County Code of Conduct policies.

The dance team is intended for students who are enrolled in dance technique classes outside of school.  Technical training (ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop) is necessary since the team’s focus is choreography.

Dance Team is a Winter Sport and tryouts are held the first part of November. Tryout dates will be announced over Morning Announcements early in November.
